Project description/

Insolation study

Summary/

The proposed Barn is arranged around a dramatic planted atrium that brings light and drama to the spaces. Its design has been optimised to maximise useful thermal gains, whilst avoiding overheating in the summer months through external louvres and high level ventilation. Morphi has carried out a detailed insolation study to steer the design towards the optimal layout to harvest winter solar gains but shelter the interior during summer. This means that the environmental conditions make the space comfortable without any need for supplemental heating or cooling.
